1.    The Alter Markt and Altes Stadthaus

Dortmund's Old Town's main attraction is the Alter Markt, the Old Market. The history of this large pedestrian-friendly area roots back to the 12th century, when local merchants and traders displayed their goods here.

2.    German Football Museum

The museum, which opened in 2015, is about German domestic football and the "Mannschaft," the German national team. 7.    Alter Markt

Dortmund's marketplace may have a new touch today but it is still the city's heart and centre as it has been for nearly 900 hundred years. Enjoy food and drinks at outdoor bars and cafés  at the market place. Also, if Borussia Dortmund have anything to celebrate, they do so on the Alter Markt as always.

8.    St Reinoldi Church

Dating back to the late 13th century, the church of St. Reinoldi is named after the patron saint of the city. As the story goes, the cart with its coffin rolled to Dortmund after Reinold was martyred in Cologne and stopped at the site of the church. There is a statue of him at the entrance of the cathedral, facing Charlemagne.The late-Gothic high altar of the church is artistically outstanding. Last, but not least, the bell tower offers a wonderful view across the city.


9.    Dortmund Zoo

Zoos are always a good choice if you need ideas for a family trip and Dortmund’s Zoo is great place for a day with the kids. The zoo holds an exceptionally large number of South American animals.
