Top 10 attractions to see in Ljubljana with Irro Charter

If you've never been to Ljubljana, you'd better have a reasonable excuse. It is a modern, forward-looking city with an Italian inflection of architecture in the middle of Slovenia. Ljubljana owes some of its beauty to the disaster: the earthquake of 1895 reduced whole communities to rubble. But this only liberated visionaries like Jože Plečnik from the ruins to create Art Nouveau masterpieces. Bus company has to admit Ljubljana is young, very trendy and green as it can be: in 2016 it became the European Green Capital, a part of Europe not always known for its environmental friendliness. Tour bus will show you city center which is now largely car-free, public transport is low-emission and there is a modern cycling network. The squat-turned-cultural area of Metelkova is a must-see for hipsters and live music, and has nightspots, bars and public art installations in the former barracks.

  1. Prešeren Square

Right next to Ljubljanica, Prešeren Square is the spot where the city meets and celebrates. If there's an event going on in Ljubljana, there's a good chance it's going to happen in this room. With a rough triangular shape, the square is at the confluence of a variety of major arteries and has acquired its present opulent appearance after the earthquake of 1895. This was when the royal halls replaced the medieval houses that had been here before, replacing the Baroque Church of the Annunciation, which dates back to 1795. The square is named after the 19th-century poet France Prešeren, whose novel "Zdravljica," "A Toast," became Slovenia's national anthem. Chartered bus will help you find his statue next to the Central Pharmacy, across the square from Julija Primic's unrequited love and muse.
  2. Ljubljana Castle

Ljubljana Castle is a magnificent medieval fort with a spectacular view of the city. Bus Company has to admit it's a must when you visit Ljubljana, so make sure you don't miss it! If you're a history buff, you're going to love the Castle of Ljubljana. You may, however, miss the discreet funicular railway that connects the street to the Castle. The funicular is accessible all year round and is one of the best ways to see the city from above. The trip is over fast, in less than a minute you're going 70 meters to Castle Hill.
  3. Triple Bridge

A group of three bridges adorned with stone balustrades and lanterns will take you off Prešeren Square. The main bridge of the three is much older than the two that surround it and dates back to 1842. This was intended for road traffic, while the two were added for pedestrians at the beginning of the 1930s and was the work of Jože Plečnik, Ljubljana's most respected architect. Also dating from this project are the riverside terraces lined with poplars, and the temple-like flower shop that connects with the central market colonnade on the right bank.
  4. Dragon bridge

Dragons are amazing, and Ljubljana has always had a lot of legends related to them! Like in Wales, you will find dragons everywhere, just keep your eyes open! The key one is the Dragon Bridge in Ljubljana, which is 7 minutes away from the Triple Bridge. It's one of the tour bus favorite sights in Ljubljana, because it represents strength and courage. It's also a starting point for all the shops and restaurants in Ljubljana, so it's a fun afternoon out. Bear in mind, though, that just like the Triple Bridge, it can be very busy at times!
  5. Tivoli Park

Within a few streets of Ljubljanica, you can be in a green space that drives you out for more than two kilometers. This begins with the beautiful gardens and avenues landscaped in 1813 and continue to the forest of Rožnik Hill, which is lined by nature trails!

  7. Central Market

Tour bus wants you to introduce you with Jože Plečnik designed market. It hugs the river between this bridge and the Dragon Bridge and is on the site of an old diocesan college for girls that collapsed during the earthquake of 1895. This lovely colonnade on the outskirts of Prešeren Square shelters stalls selling herbs, spices and handicrafts, while bakery stalls, cured meat, dried fruit and nuts, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables and fish are also on the way. Tour bus is happy to admit the market is open every day except Sunday, although the covered areas have slightly shorter opening times for open-air stalls.
  8. NAtional Gallery of Slovenia

It is housed in the Restoration palace from the end of the 19th century and has new extensions built in the early 1990s and 2001. Take Bus Company as a partner to see more than 600 works here, from Gothic liturgical art to works by Italian Baroque painters and sculptors, who obtained several commissions in Ljubljana in the 1700s.
  9. St. Nicholas Church

Even though it may look like another church on the outside, the St. Nicholas Church (or the Ljubljana Cathedral) is one of the biggest landmarks in the region. Only take a look at the side doors and the main entrance depicting the history of Slovenia in such an odd style! It's one of the best sights in Ljubljana, in tour bus opinion, because the exterior of the church is designed with such austere architecture that it draws you inside where you'll be left speechless by interior design and jaw-dropping frescoes. Tour bus favorites are on the ceiling; you're probably going to leave with a sore back!
  10. Museum of Modern Art Ljubljana

Bus rental think it's very important to get to know the art of a place you're visiting. It's disturbing, confrontational and insightful at times. It is the Museum of Modern Art in Ljubljana, and if you visit it, you'll get to know the best of Slovene modern art. Located in a beautifully contemporary house, the architecture is not for everyone, but if you're interested, enjoy modern art and have an open mind, be sure to visit it!
