2- Church of St Jacob in Levoča

The church of St. Jacob was built in the fifteenth century. It hoses great art and a special Gothic Alter from the fifteenth century. This alter is considered Slovakia’s highest alter with 18 meters in height. The beauty and mastery of combining wood carvings and paintings to feature the last supper, the Madonna, and the child are extraordinaire, especially remembering they were finished around six hundred years ago.

3- Kežmarok Castle in Kežmarok

The Kežmarok castle has been built around 1463, and still looks very we preserved. The open gardens are free to walk and take photos, but to enter the complex is only by paid guided tours. Once inside you will discover the extravagant furnishings and style from the Hungarian royal styles furnishings, and the Italian floors styles that were made by special stonemasons from Italy.

4- SNP Museum in Banská Bystrica

The SNP museum is dedicated to World War 2 and how Banská Bystrica was the cradle for the Slovak military resistance to the fascist regime, and the brutal reprisals. From the outside with the intriguing architecture, to the inside exhibitions this museum offers great experience to learn and reflect.

5- Pieniny National Park in Slovakia’s east

The large Pieniny national park straddles the north border region between Poland and Slovakia. It consists of mountains, forests, lush green plains, 3 towns, and the Dunajec River. Therefore the outdoors activates are in abundance here, with water rafting and hiking are the most popular. Don’t miss the chance to catch the ferry crossing the river called the (pltě), as it is very unique and traditional for this region.

6- Šariš Museum in Bardejov

The Saris museum is located on the main square of Bardejov city center. It is housed in a beautiful traditional building with 2 floors. The ground floor exhibits the daily life of the city and region since the fifteenth century, and the upper floor exhibits military equipment.

7- Open-Air Mining Museum in Banská Štiavnica

This open-air village museum called the (skanzen) is a collection of equipment used in mining and agriculture for the last two centuries in Slovakia. You can walk down the mine, but need to have appropriate foot wear and warm clothes, and they will give you a helmet and a light when you join the guided tours. This is a popular destination, so please book in advance to not miss the tours when they are full.

8- Period Rooms Museum in Bratislava

This museum is housed in an eighteenth century building and featuring very well preserved lavish rooms presenting how aristocracy used to live in that period of time. You will be amazed by the craftsmanship of the décor, furnishings, and especially the clothing and dresses are very interesting.

9- East Slovak Museum in Košice

This museum is special and large, as it covers in one part the wood arts, silver arts, and the Gothic arts from the sixteenth century, and the other part covers natural history and artifacts.

10- Tatra Gallery in Poprad

This contemporary Slovak art gallery is housed in an industrial building. The building used to be the steam-power plant for the city in past times, but now it presents intriguing art from all over Slovakia.
